BVE has a 3-tiered winterization and shutdown protocol as follows:
Tier 1 "Doze"
The system remains on as if they are working the next day.
- The van is plugged into both the Everwarm and Fast Charger.
- The space heater is turned on and running, and the Inkbird and water heater are heating as normal.
- This is for a long weekend away, and the user has reliable power with a low risk of power outages.
Tier 2 "Sleep"
Partial System Shutdown.
- All waterlines, including the Inkbird waterline and filter cup, are drained.
- The tub drain is purged, and both the fresh and grey water tanks are emptied.
- The Space Heater and Inkbird are turned off and or unplugged.
- Shampoo and other liquids should be removed.
- Shutoff the main switch on the 12vDC Panel.
- The Batteries remain on, the water heater remains on.
- The Everwarm remains plugged in and powered. (The Fast charger is optional after the batteries are fully charged)
This is for up to a week away. If the power goes out while the user is away, the batteries will power the water heater for up to a week before it needs to be plugged in. Monitor the batteries through the VRM Portal.
Tier 3 "Hibernate"
Full System Shutdown.
- All waterlines, including the Inkbird waterline and filter cup, are drained.
- The tub drain is purged, and both the fresh and grey water tanks are emptied.
- The Water Heater is removed, emptied, and reinstalled (Located behind the water tanks).
- Shampoo and other liquids should be removed.
- Battery breakers are flipped off, and the “ON” button is powered down. Each Battery must be charged to 50-80% (100% is okay). (There is no need to turn off or unplug anything inside the conversion, as it will not have power.)
- The van will be unplugged. (Charging cannot happen when the batteries are off)
This is for long vacations or vehicle downtime of a week or more, and plugging in for power is unreliable. (While in Hibernate, the battery percentage should be checked every 3 months, and recharged if the batteries drop below 33%)
