This guide depicts how to relocate the Hanvey Fluff dryer from behind the HairVac in our Standard Conversions to under the tub "in tandem" with the HanV Force Dryer for Conversions built mid-2019 through 2024.
This setup is now standard in all 2025 and forward conversions.
Before you begin:
Please read through the entirety of this article before relocating the FLuff Dryer.
This article explains in detail the steps needed to relocate the Fluff Dryer.
A condensed graphic is available for download to help assist in the installation.
Damage caused to the laminate is not covered under warranty.
Materials:
Tools Needed:
Phillips Screw Driver
⅛” drill bit
Supplies:
2x 1 ¼” PVC elbow kits*
10-foot extension cord*
Tape
Ziptie
Sharpie
*Can be purchased from Hanvey
In the Equipment Area:
- First, move the HairVac out of the way by unscrewing the swing board from the wall.
- Next, we must unplug the Fluff Dryer from the Red Air Switch box located on the breaker box. (Leave the switch in place; the dryer will be plugged in again later with the extension cord)
- Remove the filter from the bottom of the fluff dryer.
- Remove the hose from the top of the Fluff Dryer by removing the red set screw.
- Lift the fluff dryer off the bracket, and place it inside the salon.
- Unscrew the bracket from the divider wall. Keep the screws and wall plate and set them inside the salon for later use.
Inside the Salon:
- Follow the Fluff Dryer hose from under the tub to its connection point in the "Hold A Hose", pull off the hose from the “C” clip, and separate the two hoses at the white coupling by removing the RED set screw. Set the 8ft hose and cuff aside as a backup.
- Tape the male end of the 10ft extension cord to the Fluff Dryer hose section still under the tub.
Briefly in the Equipment Area:
Gently pull the Fluff Dryer hose through to the back with your 10ft extension cord attached until you have the cord in hand.
Reattach the second portion of the Fluff Dryer hose to the piece removed in the salon, and set aside as a backup.
Remove the tape and plug the 10 ft extension cord into the Red Air Switch box on the breaker box.
- Take the bracket and mark the holes. Then pre-drill the marked holes with your ⅛” drill bit.
*Failure to pre-drill the holes can crack the laminate, causing damage to the wall. This will not be covered under warranty.
- Using the screws that were set aside, mount the wall bracket with your Phillips screwdriver.
- The two elbow kits must be installed before placing the fluff dryer on the bracket.
- The dryer will be installed upside down (dryer switch on the bottom; in pre-2025 vans, the fluff dryer sticker will be upside down)
- The top elbow will replace the existing filter; all air is now filtered at the HanV Force dryer. Point this elbow to the left at 90° or parallel to the floor when set on its bracket while lying on a surface. Secure it using the RED set screw.
- The bottom elbow will be installed, pointing straight up when set on its bracket while lying on a surface, and secure it with the RED set screw.
- Take the second hose (That runs to the table from the HanV Dryer) and separate the hose at the white coupling by removing the RED set screw.
- Place the fluff dryer on the mounting bracket and plug the extension cord into the unit.
- Attach the table end of the disconnected hose to the bottom elbow closest to the switch and secure it with the RED set screw.
- Attach the other side of the hose to the elbow on the top of the Fluff Dryer, and secure it with the RED set screw.
- Ensure the metal switch is still in the "ON" position.
- Test the fluff dryer by pressing the fluff dryer air bulb above the table next to the tub. Then, test with both the Force and Fluff dryers on simultaneously.
If everything works, take a zip tie to neaten the extra cord.
Your dryers are now in tandem!
